Letter to the Editor of the Capital Newspaper Published 10/12/09 Eric Hartley’s column entitled ‘You can’t get there from here’ on Sunday, September 20th highlights the many challenges of using public transportation to move around Anne Arundel County and the surrounding regions. People who have a choice between driving or riding public transit will select the option which saves them time, money and stress. ARTMA recognizes the challenges facing area residents and commuters and just launched a newly redesigned website - www.artma.org where you can quickly find out how to get from here to there via public transit or carpooling. Here are a few examples of how to save money and time: if you are heading from Annapolis to DC for work – public transit via the MTA commuter buses is the way to go. It’s typically faster, cheaper and easier than driving. If you want to move around downtown Annapolis – riding Annapolis Transit is often easier than navigating congested roads and parking garages. In north County – the MTA Light Rail can quickly get you into Baltimore. For more information on how to increase mobility and reduce congestion, please contact ARTMA, the Annapolis Regional Transportation Management Association, at 410-269-RIDE.
